The sale and supply of single-use vapes have been prohibited across the UK since 1 June 2025. This restriction applies in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

How does Vaping Products Duty affect prefilled pods?
Vaping Products Duty applies to the e-liquid inside prefilled pods rather than the reusable battery hardware.
The duty starts on 1 October 2026 at £2.20 per 10ml of vaping liquid, including liquid without nicotine. At £0.22 per millilitre, the duty on 12ml of duty-liable liquid is £2.64. This is a duty amount, not a prediction of a retail-price increase. The battery and other empty hardware are not vaping liquid and sit outside the charge.

How do you recycle a pod kit in the UK?
Used pod kits and their electrical components need an electrical recycling route under UK WEEE rules.
Vape batteries and devices must not be placed in general rubbish or household recycling. Their electrical parts and batteries require collection and processing through suitable facilities.
Every UK retailer selling vapes must offer a free take-back service for used vapes and vape parts, and access cannot be conditional on buying a replacement. Check the retailer's arrangements for returning used devices and pods.
Empty pod units should be handled according to the retailer's take-back instructions or the arrangements at the selected recycling point. Sealed components should not be forced open to separate their internal parts.
