About Box Mods

A Box Mod is one of the most powerful types of vape devices, they usually have a larger battery (or two) and are far more capable of offering fine-tuning options to get the best personalised vape experience. Box Mods work well as sub-ohm devices and are often preferred by vapers who appreciate thick clouds of vape with mid to lower levels of nicotine.

The term “mod” is based on the hardware modifications that vaping enthusiasts would often make to their vaping hardware. Box Mod designs vary from visibly rugged to aesthetic works of art.

A common feature of Box Mods is that they have a firing button, pressing this releases e-liquid to be vapourised by the heated coil. Releasing the ‘power/vape’ button stops the vape flow.

Box Mods tend to be quite powerful in terms of the wattage used to heat the e-liquids. As a device group, Box Mods can be broadly divided into 2 groups: Regulated Box Mods and Unregulated Box Mods.

Regulated Box Mods incorporate a chipset to allow adjustment of wattage, voltage and temperature to fine tune the power settings. Some chipsets include sophisticated power, dust and liquid protection for the device. Unregulated Box Mods are less sophisticated and tend to offer fewer built-in protective technologies.
