A prefilled pod vape kit pairs a rechargeable battery device with a pod that already contains e-liquid and an integrated coil. Setting one up takes three steps: charge the battery, fit the pod, and let the e-liquid reach the coil. When the e-liquid runs out, you replace the whole pod unit rather than refilling it.
What is a prefilled pod vape kit?
A prefilled pod vape kit has two parts you buy separately: a reusable battery device and a replaceable pod supplied with e-liquid already inside it.
The battery holds the power cell, the firing mechanism and, on some devices, a display. The pod holds the e-liquid, the integrated coil and the mouthpiece. Because the coil sits inside the pod, both are replaced together as a single unit.
If you are still deciding between formats, our guide to open pod devices and prefilled pod devices compares the two. This guide assumes you have chosen a prefilled system and covers setting it up, keeping it running and replacing pods, using the Dinner Lady Velto as the worked example.
How do prefilled pod systems work?
Prefilled pod systems use the battery to power the integrated coil inside the pod. The coil heats the supplied e-liquid, and the resulting vapour travels through the mouthpiece.
A prefilled system does not require bottled e-liquid or a separate coil. Once the pod unit is depleted, you remove it and fit the replacement made for that device. Product setup varies between kits, so we recommend following the instructions supplied with your device.
How do you set up a Dinner Lady Velto?
Setting up a Dinner Lady Velto takes three steps: charge the battery, fit the pod unit, and allow the e-liquid to reach the coil before use.
-
Charge the battery using a suitable USB-C cable and check the level on the digital screen. A cable is not supplied with the kit.
-
Unpack and fit the pod unit. Remove the outer packaging, take off the protective covering from the pod, and remove the protective stickers from the device. Fit the pod to the battery as shown in the supplied instructions, and do not force it into place.
-
Stand the device upright for around one minute before first use, so the e-liquid can reach the coil.
Always follow the instructions supplied with your device. The steps above are a general guide to the format rather than a substitute for them.
Which pods fit the Dinner Lady Velto?
Dinner Lady Velto accepts Dinner Lady Velto prefilled replacement pods only. Our Velto pods are not cross-compatible with devices made by other brands.
The Dinner Lady Velto 10K range currently includes:
-
Blue Rancher
-
Sour Pink Dust
-
Cherry Bomb
-
Sour Lemon Head
-
Orange Creamsicle
Each flavour is sold both as a starter kit containing the battery and as a replacement pod on its own. The Velto Blue Rancher 10K Starter Kit and the Velto Blue Rancher 10K Replacement Pod show the difference between the two listings. Check the collection page for current availability and pack contents, as our range may change after this guide is published.
Each Velto replacement is a sealed, prefilled unit and is not designed to be opened or filled manually.
Please do not pour bottled e-liquid into a Velto pod. This includes our Bar Salts 10ml e-liquids, even where a bottled liquid and a Velto pod share the same flavour name. Bar Salts are made for compatible refillable devices. Our Dinner Lady e-liquids range guide explains the different formats and the hardware each one suits.

Our product listings state up to 10,000 puffs per pod unit, which is approximate and may vary depending on usage. The 12ml e-liquid capacity is the objective figure for what each unit contains.
Why the e-liquid is split across two sealed sections
Dinner Lady Velto holds its 12ml across two connected sections rather than one. A 2ml prefilled pod draws from a transparent 10ml refill container behind it, and the two together form the single replaceable pod unit. Our listings describe this as a dual-reservoir system.
This structure reflects UK rules on nicotine-containing products, which cap the capacity of a tank or cartridge and set a separate limit on the size of a refill container. Both sections are sealed and filled at manufacture. Despite its name, the refill container is not a receptacle you decant into — neither section is opened, topped up or filled by the user.
How should you charge and store the Dinner Lady Velto?
Dinner Lady Velto charges through its USB-C connection and displays the remaining battery level on its digital screen. A charging cable is not supplied with the starter kit.
Use a suitable USB-C cable and follow the instructions included with the device. Keep the charging connection dry, do not leave the device charging unattended or overnight, and disconnect it when charging is complete. Stop using the battery if the device or cable is damaged.
Store the device away from water, direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Keep the Velto device and pods out of the reach of children and pets.
How long does a prefilled pod last?
A prefilled pod lasts for different periods depending on how frequently it is used and the length of each draw. We therefore do not give a fixed number of days for a Velto pod.
Each Dinner Lady Velto replacement unit supplies 12ml in total, across a 2ml prefilled pod and its connected 10ml refill container. The e-liquid capacity is the objective guide to what the unit contains. Replace the unit when the e-liquid has been depleted rather than relying on a time estimate.
When should you replace a Dinner Lady Velto pod?
A Dinner Lady Velto pod needs replacing when its e-liquid is depleted or its normal output has reduced. The transparent pod design lets you check the remaining e-liquid.
A visibly empty pod unit, reduced vapour or a marked reduction in the pod's usual flavour output can indicate that the unit is finished. Check the battery display first, as a low charge can also reduce output. If charging restores normal operation and e-liquid remains, the pod may not need replacing yet.
To change a pod, remove the depleted unit from the battery and fit a new Dinner Lady Velto replacement pod as shown in the instructions. Do not open, puncture or manually refill the pod unit.
How can you troubleshoot common prefilled pod issues?
A few basic checks identify most power, connection and condensation issues. Follow the Velto instructions and stop use if any component appears damaged.
-
The device does not operate: Check the battery display and charge the device if required. Confirm that the pod is assembled as shown in the instructions and is seated securely.
-
Vapour output is reduced: Check the battery level and the amount of e-liquid remaining. Charge the battery or replace a depleted pod as appropriate.
-
The pod does not fit correctly: Confirm that you have a Dinner Lady Velto replacement pod. Align it with the battery as shown in the instructions and do not force it into place.
-
Condensation appears around the connection: Remove the pod and wipe the outside and connection area with a dry tissue. Do not place liquid or metal objects inside the battery device.
-
A new pod does not operate as expected: Check that all protective coverings have been removed, that it has been assembled according to the instructions, and that it has been left upright for around one minute before use.
If these checks do not solve the issue, stop using the product and contact our customer service team or the retailer that supplied it. Do not attempt to repair the battery or dismantle the sealed pod unit.
Are prefilled pod kits still legal in the UK?
Prefilled pod kits remain legal to sell in the UK because they are rechargeable and use replacement pods that customers can buy separately.
The sale and supply of single-use vapes has been prohibited across the UK since 1 June 2025. Under the regulations, a vape is classed as single-use if its battery cannot be recharged or if it is not refillable. To be treated as reusable, a device must have a rechargeable battery, a container that holds the vaping liquid, and a coil that can be replaced - either on its own or inside a replaceable pod.
Government guidance confirms that a reusable device can be refilled either by topping up a tank from a bottle, or by inserting new prefilled pods, provided those pods are separately available for customers to buy. A device that looks reusable but has no replacement pods, coils or e-liquid available for purchase does not meet the requirement.
You can read the full definition in the GOV.UK single-use vapes ban guidance.
How should you dispose of pods and devices in the UK?
UK WEEE rules require vape devices and their electrical parts to enter an appropriate recycling route. Every retailer that sells vapes must provide a take-back service for used vapes and parts, including pods, coils and batteries.
That service must be free of charge, and it is not conditional on buying a replacement. Vapes were removed from the Distributor Takeback Scheme, so vape retailers provide take-back directly rather than through a shared scheme.
You can return used Velto pods and an unwanted Velto battery to a vape retailer take-back point or a household waste recycling centre that accepts vapes. Keep them out of general rubbish and household recycling, because batteries can create a fire risk when crushed or damaged. Use a designated vape recycling container where one is available, and do not dismantle the device to remove its enclosed battery.
The Recycle Your Electricals vape recycling guide includes a postcode locator for finding your nearest drop-off point.
Frequently asked questions
Our answers cover common questions about setting up, using and replacing Dinner Lady Velto pods.
How do you change a pod on a prefilled pod kit?
Remove the depleted pod unit from the battery and fit a replacement made for that device. On the Dinner Lady Velto, take the protective covering off the new pod, seat it on the battery as shown in the instructions, and stand the device upright for around a minute before use. Do not force a pod into place.
Can you refill Dinner Lady Velto pods?
No. Dinner Lady Velto replacement pods are sealed, prefilled units and are not designed to accept separately purchased bottled e-liquid. Each replacement holds 12ml across a 2ml pod and a connected 10ml refill container, both filled at manufacture. Do not open or puncture the unit; replace it when the supplied e-liquid is depleted.
Why is my new prefilled pod not working?
Check three things first: that all protective coverings and stickers have been removed, that the battery holds charge, and that the pod is seated securely. A new pod also needs a minute standing upright so the e-liquid can reach the coil. If it still does not operate, stop using it and contact customer service rather than dismantling the unit.
What nicotine strength are Dinner Lady Velto pods?
Dinner Lady Velto pods contain 20mg nicotine salt e-liquid. This is the nicotine strength currently stated across our Velto starter kits and replacement pod listings. Always check the product page and packaging before use, particularly if our range or available specifications change after this guide is published.
Can I use Bar Salts e-liquid in a Dinner Lady Velto?
No. Our Bar Salts are 10ml bottled e-liquids for compatible refillable hardware, while Dinner Lady Velto uses sealed prefilled replacement pods. A shared flavour name does not make the formats interchangeable. Do not pour Blue Rancher, Sour Pink Dust, Cherry Bomb or another bottled Bar Salts liquid into a Velto pod.
How do I know when a Dinner Lady Velto pod is empty?
Check the transparent pod for remaining e-liquid. Reduced vapour or a marked reduction in the pod's normal flavour output can also indicate that replacement is due. Check the digital battery display first, because a low battery level can reduce output even when e-liquid remains.
Where can I recycle used Dinner Lady Velto pods?
Return them to a vape retailer take-back point or a household waste recycling centre that accepts vapes. Every UK retailer selling vapes must offer take-back free of charge, whether or not you are buying a replacement. Do not place pods or batteries in general rubbish or household recycling.
Vape products on our website are for sale to over-18s only in the UK and are intended for existing adult smokers and existing adult vapers. This product contains nicotine which is a highly addictive substance.
