What are Flavour Concentrates?
A flavour concentrate is a highly concentrated e-liquid designed to allow vapers to make their own vape juice. Thanks to flavour concentrates, making your own e-liquids is a simple and easy process.
E-LIQUID INGREDIENTS
E-liquids consist of four components: food-grade flavourings, nicotine, Propylene Glycol (PG) and Vegetable Glycerin (VG). These four components each work together to make a complete e-liquid.
While the roles of food-grade flavourings and nicotine are self-explanatory, you may not know exactly what PG and VG bring to the operating table. PG is a viscous liquid that carries flavouring well – PG is used to make e-liquid flavourful. PG also provides a throat hit and recreates the sensation of smoking a traditional cigarette. PG is approved by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) as safe to ingest orally and is found in regular products such as toothpaste and beauty products.
VG, on the other hand, has a thicker consistency that is more like oil and creates a smoother throat hit with thicker clouds of vapour. Like PG, VG is approved by the FSA as safe to consume with the agent commonly used in everyday products and foods like sweeteners, beauty products and oral hygiene products.
WHAT ARE FLAVOUR CONCENTRATES?
Flavour concentrates contain only one or two of the key e-liquid components – food-grade flavourings and PG. Concentrates are highly concentrated versions of your favourite e-liquid flavours. They function as blank canvases for you to create your own e-liquids with your preferred balance of PG, VG and nicotine. It is for this reason that flavour concentrates are favoured by experienced vapers who like to create unique, DIY e-liquid flavours.
The absence of nicotine means that concentrates are not subject to the restrictions of the Tobacco Products Directive which stipulate that e-liquids containing nicotine should not exceed 10ml in size. This makes DIY vape juice more cost-effective than traditional e-liquids.
